Actions of the Main Character

Anyhow, now that we’ve shown a movie of La-Mulana working on the Wii, what’s left is to continue development. So, we’ll introduce new elements and changes that have already been implemented later on. First, the actions of the main character, Professor Lemeza. As you can see, although it may be difficult to understand, this is the movie asset created for the professor. Other than the peculiar pose, the professor’s body and arms are separated. There is the purpose of cutting down on multiple patterns, but the number one reason is to have the right hand and left hand move independently of each other without being influenced by any conditions. Examples […]

Current Status

I’m able to rest assured now that there is a movie we have shown of La-Mulana working on the Wii. To explain our current status, we’ve started prioritizing the basic parts of all actions of the main character as well as the enemies and traps, too. The other day, we more or less finished implementation of all the main character’s actions, so duplex will now begin development of the menu and stores. Because we can’t create a screen to show everyone by making only base parts, Samieru and I proceeded with the initial number of field maps and enemy characters. The work for these two will not change. We will […]

Everyone, lend me your strength

We’re currently in the midst of creating the menu. We, NIGORO, are a relatively start-up and this will be our first time entering the console market. Without strength there won’t be any knowledge or connection of NIGORO and La-Mulana. And we can’t do campaigns or large-scale ads. We have to do everything on our own. That’s why we try to take the way which cannot make it by the existing process of development and advertising such as making fans privy to information on the official site. We’re showing it to you as it’s created to let everyone see and offer their opinions, it’s useful for the game development. It’s almost […]

Motion of La-Mulana

The reason why more questions come up even after we answer everyone’s questions is probably because you haven’t yet actually seen or played La-Mulana. With that said, check this out. [Music is MIDI of an original version. ] This is not the trailer movie. I wanted to eliminate everyone’s skepticism so I uploaded something that’s running, even though some parts that are not complete and still placeholder. I’m sorry if your doubt increase from looking at the incomplete parts, but remember we’re still working on the game.

Possibility for the Future

Possibility for the Future Although we’ve answered various questions on this blog, I think we should answer the questions from TGS interview which a lot of people asked. That question is, “Why is it WiiWare?” The answer is simple, because we accepted the offer to work with Nicalis. I think we’ve received this question means that some people may want see the game on Xbox 360 or want a European version. There is a possibility of releasing LA-MULANA elsewhere in the future. With the release of LA-MULANA we’re actively participating in the console portion of the game industry. It may be necessary to continue efforts for the sales of LA-MULANA […]

New Screen Shots

We received a lot of coverages from an overseas journalist in Tokyo game show 2009. NintendoPower , GameLife@WIRED , Game Developer Magazine , , , , Gamasutra. Thank you for being interested in us. We have performed for the world. Article that is coverage to Samieru. Though this is different from coverage. A new screen shot is published also on our site though there are some a open to the public things in the site of the medium that receives the interview, too. By the way, some screen shots are different from an actual game screen. Because we do not have machine parts that beautifully records the […]

Questions and Concerns from Other Countries

I would like to answer some of the questions and concerns that were brought up on the website about La-Mulana for WiiWare. I will start with the ones on the Japanese site. About the sound source for the PC version. I always prefer to create new environments for new graphics. So, yes, the sound source will be different from the original PC version. If some prefer the original graphics and music, they can download the original PC version for free. We will keep some of the music from original version based on the results from music survey (on the website). I think those results will keep interest of those who […]

About the Difficulty

Some people enjoy the original version of La-Mulana so much because of the level of challenges it offered. These people must have been disappointed each time a remake of a favorite classic game is released. Because a remake of an old game often has decreased level of challenge. NIGORO, of course, considers such concerns.

MSX material

As I expected, the most common question is about the MSX. There will be no materials about MSX or other games. We won’t disappoint those who loved the original version. The Elder’s underwear would be a good example. The underwear isn’t an MSX-related anymore. The Professor’s laptop is also different. it’s called the Mobile Super X.

About music

We plan on replacing the original music with new music, same as we’re doing with the graphics. I’d rather remake it close to SSCC version with the quality of sound as arranged MIDI from the original game. Shown in the picture above are percussion instruments which were purchased on an overseas trip. This was in order to make sounds of LA-MULANA for WiiWare. I record these sounds and then use them as tones for the music. I have to prepare them myself, the same way I did for the PC version. I sample these instruments, like the guitar with the highest-quality sound source possible. The main tool is Yamaha’s famous […]
